The office is located at the Town Hall Annex, which is across the street from the Public Library and adjacent to the Daniel Webster Inn.

Office Hours:
Monday - Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Every Tuesday: 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m

Passport Applications are no longer accepted at this facility.

Fresh & Saltwater fishing licenses are not available at the Clerk’s Office. Please click here for information on where you may obtain one.


About the Town Clerk's Office:
The Town Clerk acts as the Town's chief election official, registrar of vital statistics (births, marriages, and deaths), keeper of public records, recording officer, and licensing officer. The Clerk works with the Board of Registrars to oversee polling places and the general conduct of all elections.

The Clerk maintains records of adopted regulations, bylaws, oaths of office, appointments and resignations. The office issues state licenses and permits, including marriage, dog and cat licenses. You can also register to vote at the Clerk's Office. Copies of all Town regulations and bylaws are available in this office.

The Town Clerk's Office responds to inquiries from the public, serves as the central information point for the Town, and is responsible for conducting the Annual Census. The Town Clerk is an elected position with a three-year term.

Helpful Information:

Absentee Ballot Application - If you are not able to vote on Election Day you may apply for an absentee ballot. This should be done no later then 2 weeks before any given election. You may also vote absentee at the Clerk’s Office in person, however, this must be done no later than 12 Noon on the day preceding the election. For more information you may visit the Secretary of State’s website http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/eleifv/howabs.htm for info or call the Clerk’s Office at (508) 888-0340.

Business Certificates (DBA) - In compliance with M.G.L. Chapter 10 Section 5, http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/110-5.htm any person, whether individually, a partnership, or a corporation conducting business under any name other than the complete name of the person or corporation conducting the business, must file for a Business Certificate (or as they are more commonly known, DBA "Doing Business As") with the Town Clerk’s Office.

Dog License Application - In compliance with M.G.L. Chapter 140 Section 137, http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/140-137.htm every dog must be licensed after 6 months of age. This application can be mailed or completed at the counter at the Clerks Office. Instructions are included on this application and it is very important that a valid rabies certificate is included. Town Meeting Results - The Town of Sandwich has an open Town Meeting form of government. Every registered voter is eligible to participate in the meeting as a voting member. Town Meeting is held annually on the first Monday in May at the Sandwich High School Auditorium. You may also view the Warrant HERE once it becomes available.

Vital Records Requests - This form can be used to request certified copies of Birth, Marriage and Death certificates. Instructions are included.
