Important Resources for Seniors

As of Tuesday, June 1, 2021 the COA is open to the public during regular business hours - 8:30am - 4:30pm.  You can reach all staff members at (508) 888-4737. Please see the latest newsletter on this website for programming schedules. 

Bread Donations – We have bread donations from Stop & Shop on Mondays from 10am-2pm. You can pick up breads and baked goods for yourself or a neighbor. All donations are commercially packaged.

Transportation – Full availability for essential medical and personal care appointments. Rides are available for appointments or programs at the COA.

Grocery Shopping – We do not provide shoppers, but can transport individuals to the store. Stops can be made at a pharmacy, bank or post office.

Outreach – Information and referrals for services are available. Please call the office at (508) 888-4737.

Meals on Wheels – At this time Elder Services of the Cape and Islands is taking new clients for the Meals on Wheels program. Please call (508) 394-4630 for more information.

Food Pantry - The Food Pantry is available for seniors. Please call Jennifer on Mondays from 10am-12pm to register if you have not used the Pantry previously. (508) 888-3816. You may go to the office on Wednesdays (10am-12pm) for help with registration. If you are new or do not have a phone to do an online order, a volunteer will assist you. When you are registered, Pantry hours are Wednesdays 10am-12pm, every 3rd Saturday, and the last Wednesday of the month, 10am-12pm and 6pm-7:30pm.

Caregivers – Please register with the COA if you are caring for a loved one with dementia. In the event that something happens to you, First Responders will notify the COA to make sure your emergency caregiver is contacted. If you don’t have a back-up plan, please consider your options in case of an emergency need.

SHINE – Our SHINE counselors are now available for telephone appointments for Medicare, Mass Health and general insurance matters. Please call the office to schedule a time. Tuesday afternoons 12pm-3pm. See full SHINE information inside the newsletter.

CORD – Options Counseling is available. Steve Spillan, PhD, will answer your calls about services that may assist you in staying in the community rather than going into a nursing home. Please call CORD at (508) 775-8300 ext. 20 and leave a message for Steve; or, email him at steve@cilcapecod.org.

Programming – We are slowly adding in person programs. Not all programs will resume immediately; please visit our Programming web page here. Call the office for more information on all programs or check our latest newsletter available on this website or by mail or email. Our virtual and outdoor programs will continue.
