Sandwich Municipal Government
The municipal form of government for Sandwich consists of a Town Meeting open to all voters and held annually the first Monday of May. A Board of Selectmen is elected by the people and accountable to the people and a Town Manager, appointed by and accountable to the Board of Selectmen for proper administration of the affairs of the Town.
Town Departments
Sandwich town government is comprised of 22 departments with about 175 full-time employees and various Boards and Committees that provide a wide-range of services, from public safety to recreation, to the 21,000 residents of the community.

Assessing
The Assessing Department is broken into two sections, the Appraisal section, and the Assessment Administration section.

Building Department
The Building Department is responsible for reviewing plans for building permits and inspections of new construction to ensure public safety in accordance with the Massachusetts State Building Code, 780 CMR and other applicable codes.

Council on Aging
The mission of the Council on Aging is to partner with the Sandwich community to assure the best quality of life for older adults (age 60+), their families and caregivers. Our goal is to develop and provide programs and supportive outreach services promoting an independent, active and healthy lifestyle.

Fire Department
Sandwich Fire Department proudly protects 20,750 people living in an area of 28 square miles. The Fire Department responds to limit the effects of fire and other disasters, medical emergencies, and to assist our neighboring communities through an extensive mutual-aid network.

Health Department
The Health Department implements and oversees the policies and regulations as mandated by the Board of Health, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Department of Environmental Protection with the responsibility of preserving and protecting the health of the community.

The Human Resources Department directs recruitment and all hiring activities for position openings within the Town with the exception of the School Department.

The Information Technology Department is responsible for maintaining and upgrading all aspects of the town’s computer network, and providing user and PC support.

Marina
The East Boat Basin/Sandwich Marina offers residents and visitors with outstanding recreational and commercial boating activities at the Cape Cod Canal of Cape Cod Bay.

Moderator
The Town Moderator is elected at-large to a three year term. The Moderator is responsible for regulating the proceedings of all Annual and Special Town Meetings, including deciding questions of order and making public declarations of all votes.

The Natural Resources Department administers the daily workload of the Conservation Commission.

The Planning and Development Office administers a broad range of community development and planning activities for the Town of Sandwich.

Town Accountant
The Town Accountant's Office is responsible for producing and processing payroll and vendor accounts payable for all Town departments.

The Town Archives and Historical Center maintains information, records and photographs of historical importance to the Town.

Town Clerk
The Town Clerk acts as the Town's chief election official, registrar of vital statistics (births, marriages, and deaths), keeper of public records, recording officer, and licensing officer.

The Tax Collector is responsible for the printing, mailing and collection of all tax bills issued by the Town of Sandwich.

Town Manager
The Town Manager's Office is responsible for handling the day-to-day administrative affairs of the Town and for implementing the policies set forth by the Board of Selectmen.

The Town Treasurer receives all money belonging to the Town and expends and accounts for it according to the order of the Town's authorized officers.
