Please note: All Coastal Access Permits will be subject to change pending the COVID GUIDELINES set forth by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- The Town of Sandwich reserves the right to amend, alter and/or rescind the permitted time, use and location of the issued groups permit due to COVID guidelines, construction, conservation and refurbishment projects and other issues. The permit holder would be notified as soon as information became available, however it is the permit holders responsibility to uphold and enforce the mandatory safety standards, recommended best practices for outdoor events put forth by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. :Massachusetts Outdoor Event Guidelines

Application Steps:
To request A COASTAL BEACH ACCESS PERMIT for your event you will need to complete the following (3) steps:
1) Read and complete the Rules & Regulations for your permit type access to ensure your event matches the requirements and that you understand your responsibilities. You will need to submit the completed form WITH your application.
2) Complete the corresponding Access Application and attach your completed Rules & Regulations form to it. Be sure all fields are completed and that both forms are signed.
3) Submit your payment. You can pay ONLINE or by mail or in person to the Rec Department Offices.
General Wedding Guidelines
1.Effective January, 2006, no wedding permits will be issued Memorial Day through Labor Day due to the high volume of visitors and school field trips.
2 .Boardwalk Area a maximum of fifty (50) wedding guests are allowed. Guests must gather in sand area on the beach seaward of the deck, not on the dunes. Only the wedding party and person(s) officiating ceremony will be allowed on the boardwalk deck due to loading capacity.
CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2022 at Boardwalk - UNTIL STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY HAS BEEN INSPECTED AND CONFIRMED DUE TO STORM DAMAGE.
3. First Beach a maximum of one hundred and fifty (150) wedding guests allowed. Guests must gather on the beach, not on the dunes.
4. East Sandwich II a maximum of 60 wedding guests allowed. Beach area is only 355 feet wide and all guests must be considerate of neighbors and dunes.

First Beach: Corner of Freeman’s Ave and Town Neck Road
East Sandwich Beach: Ploughed Neck Road to North Shore Boulevard, East Sandwich.
Fresh Water Beaches:
Snake Pond Beach: Route 130 to Snake Pond Rd, Forestdale. (Lifeguards from June 28th - Sept 2nd 10 am to 4:30 pm)
Wakeby Lake at Ryder Conservation: Cotuit Rd to South Sandwich Rd. (Lifeguards from June 28th - Sept 2nd, 10 am to 4:30pm)
Peters Pond at Oakcrest Cove: 34 Quaker Meetinghouse Rd, Forestdale. (Lifeguards from June 28th - Sept 2nd, 10 am to 4:30)
